WSCFF Cancer Foundation completes the final step in partnership with CDC/NIOSH linking PIIERS Application to the National Firefighter Cancer Registry.
Firefighters who have registered with the National Firefighter Cancer Registry can now link their PIIERS app with the NFR, providing valuable information through ongoing data collection about Firefighter Cancer exposures and diagnosis.
The goal of the NFR is to:
-
help protect your brothers and sisters in the fire service from developing cancer,
-
help lesson the impact of cancer on firefighters' families and friends
-
pave the way for new health and safety measures
-
improve understanding of cancer risk among minority, female, and volunteer firefighters as well as groups like wildland firefighters.
Linking PIIERS to NFR allows ongoing data collection without having to duplicate entries on separate applications / platforms. It also opens the door for Washington Firefighters to collect aggregate data from NFR to support education and legislative efforts.
After creating and reviewing your profile in the NFR, click "Save and Continue," you will receive your NFR participant number and access to the questionnaire. Enter your participant number into your PIIERS account and click "Opt-In".
